Going red is a big decision. Before making the color jump, there are a few things you should be aware of when it comes to maintaining all shades of red hair. Here’s the 411.
Your Hair May Resist
Molecules in red dye are larger than other normal hair colors and can
take a few tries before fully penetrating your hair strands. This can lead to
quite a bit of fading that many women are displeased with. Don’t let this stop
you though. It’s just a good thing to be aware of. To combat hair’s natural
resistance to red, be sure to use a red-pigmented shampoo to prevent fading and
to lend vibrancy.
It’s Hard to Go
Back
Once you commit to red, it can be difficult to go back. Note we said difficult
but not impossible. The reason this is so is that red hair dye is made of
larger molecules and when these molecules have been applied a few times, they
take a while to remove. If you decide that you are done with red, we recommend
gradually going to dark brown and then stepping up to lighter browns from there
to protect your hair.
Consider Skin
Tone
Selecting the right shade of red is incredible important. At Accolades, one of
our expert hair stylists can assist you in evaluating your pigment to match you
with cooler or warmer colors.
